I am truly humbled and honoured to share that I’ve been nominated for the Kitchener–Waterloo Oktoberfest BMO Financial Group Women of the Year Award (@kwo_woy). To be recognized among such incredible women and leaders is a privilege I will hold close to my heart. 🤍
Reflecting on this journey brings up a mix of emotions — highs and challenges, moments of certainty and moments of doubt. Every one of those experiences has shaped who I am and has given me the resolve to keep building, keep showing up, and keep believing in the vision behind Live with SWAY.
I owe deep thanks to the mentors who have guided and believed in me along the way. A special thank you to @morricemike and Kathrin Delutis through @capacitycanada — your guidance, encouragement, and belief have meant everything.
To the other nominees and to the organizers of this award — Tracy Van Kalsbeek and Clarice Ward — thank you for creating a space that celebrates leadership and impact in such a meaningful way. Your work lifts women and community leaders and helps their stories reach a wider audience.
I’m also deeply grateful to our wonderful team and supporters. Thank you for believing in this vision and for helping bring Live with SWAY to life at every step:
@karamilasmart @remogh @siba_kh33 @samo.kawash @shada.zarti @bouranabbas @bisan.samara @_baltajimaya @alkattan6 @erin.bert @craftazya @basheer.louis @ansamshafie @karaznaturalcare
As one wise voice once said, “The more women I know, the more I know.” That continues to ring true with every connection, every story, and every woman I’ve had the privilege to learn from.
I look forward to celebrating with everyone at the gala on May 21 at Marshall Hall. Thank you again to everyone who has supported this journey — this nomination belongs to all of us.
With gratitude,
[Wafa / Founder, Live with SWAY]
